Patrick 'Speaking Wind' Quirk
"Miracle", the white buffalo was born in 1994. The significance of this is that the last
messenger has awakened and now is the time of doing... now is the time to listen and
understand, for time is almost at an end.
I met Patrick several weeks after finding his first book, "When Spirits Touch the Red Path."
I was so moved after reading his story which incorporated many of his childhood experiences
with his Grandfather, a Pueblo Indian living near the Jemez Mountains in New Mexico, that
I included many passages from the book in The Talking Leaf newsletter. I was sad that
his address was not in the back of that book, because I felt a real yearning to write to him
and tell him how powerful I felt his words were. Through a series of coincidences, I learned
that Patrick was to be in Houston a few weeks later, and I was privileged to
spend two days with him as he taught us much. The following insights are
just a very few of the beautiful writings in his newest book, "The Messenger."

words, either through the books, tapes, or speaking engagements, nine in ten have
experienced a tremendous personal change in their life. One that has been very meaningful...
but one that caused them to see how alone they had been prior to hearing the message
contained within this novel.
However, once this change reached completion for them and they arrived on the other
side, they found that they were alone no longer. They allowed a new part of themselves
to be born, but only after allowing the old part to die and fall away.

If you are ready for such a change in your life, then read well and know that all things
are as they should be. And soon you will understand and begin to see yourself as one within one.

"Standing Tree told our people that the (ancient) ones who would remain or continue to return to our
people would be very small in number. And those who would remain behind would do so
only to keep alive the understanding that would be needed by our people to remain on the
path.
The willingness to understand those teachings of the old ones would not return to life among
our people until the time was ready for the great change. This great change would affect all who would
be present in this domain that is the Earth Mother's."
Speaking Wind continues by explaining how those who had preserved the ancient knowings would
gather to share what they teachings that they kept alive in circles.....
"In these circles, there would be sharing of new applications for healing plants that had been shown
to some; and to others they would share what the dream spirit had given them to work with.
Other circles would be foe the ones who were to be members of the dream lodges. During the time of
this sharing, there would be many insights exchanged that had been given by the Earth Mother. And,
how better to come to a place of understanding on how to use the gifts of nurturing.
Still other circles would be filled with the who had been called to travel with the dream spirits
and to see and hear the spirits of the lands. Others would be formed by the wise ones to discuss
spirit visions that had been given to them. It was in circles such as these that I would most likely
find Grandfather and Two Bears sitting in council with the other spirit callers and wise ones
who had been given many messages to carry with them by the Earth Mother."
Speaking Wind later asked Grandfather why this process of sharing had been stopped and why
the white man had played the role which he had of suppression....
"It was a time when many eyes laid on all our people, little one. It was when the ones with the
white skins began to think that our power was something for them to fear. And, remember what has
been shared with you from the teachings of the old ones. That whenever one will see the face
of fear come to them in any form, they are not in a place of understanding .... themselves or any
of those things that are coming to them.... We could have offered an explanation that would have
cleared much away from their views of us. But from what had been shared with us with the old
ones and the wise (and we held the knowing for this)... it was not time. The time for sharing our
teachings with others was not right. For any of us to attempt to do this would brings great
disaster on all our people ... from the very old to the very young.
As it has been taught to many of the wise ones of our people, Speaking Wind, we are to learn
and work with those things that are made available for us to work with. It is when we attempt
to work with those things that we do not have, that we create the illusion ... the illusion of
being or becoming something or someone we are not."
